28e Fêtes Médiévales à l'Abbaye de Mortemer

Opening

  • on August 15, 2026 de 10h00 à 22h30
  • on August 16, 2026 de 10h00 à 18h00
Founded in the 12th century by Henry I Beauclerc, son of William the Conqueror, Mortemer Abbey is a historic site with a prestigious past. Mathilde the Empress and her son Henry II Plantagenet also played a major role in its construction, following the death of Henry I Beauclerc in 1135. Although in ruins since the French Revolution, the Abbey is still a place steeped in history, and on Saturday August 15 from 10am to 10:30pm and Sunday August 16 from 10am to 6pm, it will host another edition of its medieval festivities.

Come and discover these two days of festivities, which will transport you back several centuries to the days of medieval Normandy. Your day will be punctuated by numerous shows and activities.

Troops will set up camp in the park: among other things, the knights will allow you to witness dressage demonstrations, impressive acrobatics and equestrian jousting tournaments. Be warned, however, that not far away, knights in armour will be fighting Vikings. All this will be accompanied by Pastourel musicians performing medieval music.

A medieval market will also be present, where you can find creations of wooden objects or even reproductions of weapons that will make you a true knight. Lithotherapy candles and stones, necklaces, flags, swords and axes, a wide range of leather goods and fantastic decorative objects? it's up to you to come and discover them! To make your day a little sweeter, there'll be a wide choice of medieval-themed artisan foods, then after a few detours to the honey sweets, artisan jams and tiaras merchants, let yourself be tempted by the meads from ancestral wines.

On-site catering will be provided by the Bistrot du Bec Fin, and picnics are also permitted on the Abbey grounds.

This year, the Abbey is also organizing a nocturne on the evening of Saturday August 15 until 10:30pm, so you can enjoy the beauty of the illuminated ruins and the medieval market.

From 8pm onwards, you can enjoy a dinner and show featuring fire-eaters, equestrian demonstrations, knight fights?

Prices are 13? per adult, 9? per child aged 2 to 12 and free for children under 2. 1? discount for costumed guests.

Parking is free, and dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash.

Please note During the 2 days of medieval festivities, the interior of the Palais abbatial (Museum of Furnished Rooms and Museum of Legends and Ghosts) is closed to the public.

You can visit all the outside areas: cloister, dovecote, church ruins, Dukes of Normandy path, etc., in addition to the medieval shows.
