🌸 Gardens of Normandy Caux Vexin: A Refreshing Summer Escape

 

Are heatwaves driving you away from the city in search of cooler surroundings? There's nothing better than strolling through a beautiful garden as an antidote to the scorching asphalt of urban life.

In July, the gardens are in full bloom, and throughout the summer their shaded, tree-lined spaces offer welcome relief from the heat.

Each garden has its own unique character, reconnecting visitors with nature while hosting a variety of events in lush green settings.

Upcoming Events in Our Parks and Gardens
Summer Feathers (Plumes d'été) – Plant exhibition and sale at Jardin Plume in Auzouville-sur-Ry, June 27–28.
Agapanthe Night Openings – July 11 (and August 15) at Jardin Agapanthe in Grigneuseville, enhanced by enchanting evening lighting.
Bois-Guilbert Elegance by Art Automobile – July 5, a French-style classic car elegance competition featuring vintage vehicles, entertainment, and refreshments at the Sculpture Garden of Bois-Guilbert.
A Musical Summer in the Garden (7th edition) – At the Sculpture Garden of Bois-Guilbert, enjoy a magical Sunday combining garden walks, a château concert, and an evening cocktail dinner (July 12, 19, and 26, plus every Sunday in August).

"The Uniqueness of Color" by Caroline Coppey and "The Garden of the Impressionist Painters" by Jean-Marc de Pas at the Sculpture Garden, Château de Bois-Guilbert (until November 1).
"I Shall See My Normandy Again" at the Museum of Norman Traditions and Arts, Château de Martainville (until September 27).
Tribute to painter and engraver Pierre-Yves Trémois at Château de Vascoeuil (until October 4).
"Exploring the Universe of a Comic Book" (Fred Duval, EMEM, Fred Blanchard) at the MATMUT Contemporary Art Center (until October 4).
"Trees in This Garden", a photography exhibition in the gardens of Quincampoix Town Hall (free admission, until September 20).
"Sentinels", sculptures and incense burners by Laurence Panadero, and "Beyond the Visible", paintings by Sandrine Lefort, at Notre-Dame de Fontaine-Guérard Abbey in Radepont (July 20–August 20).
"Ten Years Ago...", photographs by Philippe Schlienger, at Château de Bosmelet in Val de Scie (until October 17).

🚒 French Firefighters Museum, Montville

A must-see for enthusiasts of historic fire engines. The museum features a unique collection of beautifully restored fire trucks and cars, as well as uniforms, instruments, and historical firefighting equipment.

🪆 Anatole Jakovsky Mermaid Museum

Echoing the International Museum of Naïve Art Anatole Jakovsky, this museum houses collections from the art critic and his wife. Alongside naïve art, visitors will discover an impressive collection of antique books and unusual, unexpected, and sometimes delightfully kitschy objects. (Open every Thursday afternoon and the first Sunday of each month during the summer.)

Au Grenier de Camille, Ry

Browse an ever-changing selection of country-chic decorative objects, antique tableware, furniture (sometimes creatively customized), vintage toys, second-hand clothing, and garden décor. A must-stop after exploring this charming village and its picturesque Saturday morning market.

ABV Brocante, Bosc-le-Hard

Fans of pop culture, retro gaming, and memorabilia from cult TV series will be spoiled for choice in this vast antique market. Spread across 350 square meters, it feels like a giant cabinet of curiosities featuring scooters, pinball machines, collectibles, neon signs, industrial furniture, figurines, movie posters, and much more.

Clères Antique and Collectors' Market

Held under the covered market hall on July 11 and every second Saturday of the month. The setting is charming, with the renowned Clères Park and two excellent restaurants just a short walk away.
