Jardin des Sculptures (Sculpture Garden)
a true open-air museum
Since 1985, Jean-Marc de Pas, a sculptor and landscape artist has created a vast poetic setting, a true "open-air museum", a 7-ha sculpture park in which 70 works of art punctuate a symbolic walk highlighting natural elements ("the four seasons", "the four elements", "the Cosmos garden", etc.) He has also converted the ground floor of the chateau where he lives into a contemporary art exhibition hall.
The chateau, along with the pavilion and the chapel provide a beautiful architectural example from the 17th and 18th centuries: the chapel and the pavilion date back to 1625 and the present chateau dates from 1780. The estate, which remained in the family, was founded by the Le Pesant family in 1620 and has received many illustrious figures: Pierre and Thomas Corneille, the economist Pierre Le Pesant de Boisguilbert thanks to whom it was granted the "Maison des Illustres" (Houses of Illustrious People) certification.
